It was very rare for me to see so many young people gathered in Japanese traditional clothes, because “Kimono” hasn’t been so popular with Japanese youths for long time as this.
I asked them why they are wearing “Kimono” there in the middle of “Golden Week”.
“Only for wearing for once in a way. We’ve got fed up with wearing western dresses because we’ve worn almost all types of western dresses. After contemplating what to wear next,we got to “Kimono”.When I wear “Kimono”,I always feel my back straighten up and become something.” One of them answered.

They are a graphic designer, a dress designer, an I.T. engineer, a householder and so on.
They went to Shimoda in western dress on the 28th of April and will stay until the 5th of May. Would go back to Tokyo also in western dress.
Everyone has brought several sets of “Kimono” to Shimoda. And everyday they change into “Kimono” and walk around the town.
They are the members of the group called as “Kimono Biyori” (the membership : 46 people).
The deputy told that there are 20 groups like it in Tokyo.
Those people always go on a journey only for enjoying wearing “Kimono” at the place where they are staying spending a lot of money.

A little bit strange.
But they could be a product of Japanese’s reaching maturity in spite that they seem monomaniac .
